Jane is the Wild Pine Project Officer for Trees for Life. She completed an MSc in Environmental and Forest Management at the University of Aberdeen in 2017 and started her career in the commercial forestry sector before becoming a native woodland advisor, then moving on to work on the Wild Pine Project in August 2023.

Throughout this time her experience and appreciation of ancient woodland and wild trees has grown, alongside a recognition that these ecosystems are ideally restored through natural processes.

The Wild Pine Project aims to document Caledonian Pinewood refuges which haven't yet been included on the Caledonian Pinewood Inventory and provide landowners with the information they need to make decisions on management for restoration.
